Door transport
Door and door frame transport is a significant logistical challenge for manufacturers and suppliers of joinery products. In this article, we explain what to pay attention to, how to properly secure the load, and what solutions to use to ensure smooth and safe transport of these delicate elements.
Export of doors and frames is growing – Polish transport in the international market
The increase in Polish joinery exports is closely linked to Poland’s accession to the European Union. Since 2004, an enormous growth has been recorded in this area. Almost a tenfold increase in exports has been a major reason for satisfaction. This trend seems to continue, as confirmed by data from 2022 and 2023. Polish producers are exporting more and more joinery products abroad each year, with a significant increase in sales to countries such as the United States. This presents opportunities for businesses but also great challenges for many Polish transport companies.
What does safe door transport look like?
During door transport, the position of the doors is crucial. They should definitely be placed in a vertical position. High stress that can occur when doors are transported horizontally may lead to damage. Improper positioning is especially risky in the case of transporting glass doors (or very expensive doors – e.g., made from exotic wood types), which are more susceptible to damage in transit.
Even seemingly minor details, such as the color of stretch film, are important during delivery. The film should be transparent to allow quick identification of any possible damage during transport. No part of the door should protrude from the packaging. The corners of the door must be secured with protective covers. The proper weight distribution should also not be underestimated. Professional loading makes later unloading safer and easier.
In transport, doors placed in racks are additionally secured with special straps. These straps are fastened to the frame of the rack, without touching the doors directly, which minimizes the risk of damage, e.g., during sudden braking. If racks specially designed for this purpose cannot be used during loading, it’s important to ensure there is no empty space between items.
What about door frame transport?
Transporting door frames requires special care due to their specific shape and vulnerability to mechanical damage. Door frames are large construction joinery elements, often made of wood, steel, or aluminum, that must arrive at the installation site in perfect condition. That’s why our company uses appropriate load protection and specialized vehicles.

Examples of vehicles used for transporting doors:
♦ box-type delivery vans,
♦ panel vans,
♦ curtain trucks with tail lifts,
♦ flatbed trucks,
♦ trailers with standard 13.6 m or MEGA dimensions.
The choice of transport vehicle depends on the quantity, type, and dimensions of the door frames, ensuring their safe and timely delivery to the destination.
Why should you entrust door and frame transport to a professional company?
The main export markets for Polish door manufacturers are countries in the European Union – most Polish doors are shipped to:
♦ Germany,
♦ Italy,
♦ Belgium,
♦ France,
♦ Netherlands,
♦ Czech Republic.
Transporting doors and frames on your own carries considerable risk. In case of damage during delivery, the financial responsibility lies with the ordering party – and repair or replacement costs may be high and non-refundable.
Exporting goods abroad often also involves the need for customs clearance. At iCaro Logistics, we offer comprehensive support not only in transportation but also in customs services and warehousing.
