Transport of wind farms
Wind power plant transport is definitely one of the most logistically demanding processes. It requires extensive industry know-how. Long-load trailers are most commonly used for transporting wind turbine blades. In many cases, these loads require the use of actuators that allow for lifting such heavy components.
Wind power plant transport
Sometimes, individual components of wind turbines are placed on the vehicle at an angle, especially when the route passes through built-up areas, mountainous regions, or forests, and the loads are exceptionally long. Despite their large dimensions, these components are usually transported by road. What can sometimes pose challenges is the need to transport turbine components separately due to their size and weight. However, blades—when smaller—can be delivered in sets of several units.
The larger and heavier the transported elements, the more carefully the transport route must be planned. Wind farms are most often located in areas with limited road infrastructure and challenging accessibility.
Public roads used for such deliveries must account for:
♦ road gradient and structural strength,
♦ minimum turning radius of the transport units,
♦ sufficient clearance under overpasses,
♦ adequate space for turning or parking maneuvers.
Transport of wind turbine components
As part of our wind power plant transport services, we also carry out:
♦ transport of wind turbine blades,
♦ transport of wind turbine generators.
Comprehensive forwarding offer
In addition to standard transport, our logistics services also include:

♦ obtaining required permits (e.g. for oversized loads),
♦ escort and pilot services,
♦ cabotage and internal EU transfers,
♦ full coordination of supply chains,
♦ cargo insurance,
♦ ferry crossings,
♦ customs clearance,
♦ tax formalities,
♦ expert consulting services,
♦ vehicle selection tailored to cargo type.
Fast delivery of oversized materials
Wind turbines are complex mechanisms that generate electricity using wind-powered generators. This means that energy can be produced without burning fuels (excluding emissions associated with construction). We are increasingly seeing wind farms — clusters of turbines supported by dedicated infrastructure. In 2020 alone, wind energy accounted for nearly 6% of global electricity needs (1590 TWh).
Wind power plants can be categorized by power, location, and application. In terms of application, they can be residential or industrial. By power output: micro (up to 100 W), small (100 W to 50 kW), and large (above 50 kW). Micro and small turbines are typically used for private energy needs and are often installed near homes.
Wind farms can be located both on land and offshore. Offshore installations are more expensive and technically challenging but offer advantages such as distance from populated areas, favorable wind conditions, and extensive available space.
Eco-friendly solutions for businesses and individuals
We support all modern, environmentally friendly energy solutions. Using wind power is fully aligned with our company philosophy. At iCaro Logistics, we have always valued environmental protection. We reduce emissions by avoiding empty runs and optimizing routes to minimize CO2 output.
We handle every task with full responsibility. Our company is covered by a high-value forwarder’s liability insurance (OCS) of up to €500,000. This ensures that your cargo is fully protected during loading, transit, unloading, and storage—guaranteeing the credibility of our transport services.
Tailor-made logistics
We take an individual approach to every project, respecting each client’s expectations. Our flexibility, modern fleet, and experienced team allow us to handle even the most challenging assignments.
We also handle refrigerated transport, oversized cargo, and hazardous goods (ADR).
What other companies avoid, we deliver smoothly and efficiently. Transporting large-scale or non-standard cargo is our daily business.
Remember, we never charge for delivering the vehicle to the first loading location. Costs are calculated only from the moment your goods are picked up, regardless of the location.
