Medical Products Transport
Transport of medicines is an extremely responsible task. In this field, even the smallest negligence is unacceptable. If, due to improper transport conditions, products were to change their properties or lose their usability, it could mean not only serious financial and reputational losses but, most importantly, a risk of negative consequences for the health or life of consumers and patients.
Such goods must be protected against contamination, harmful external conditions, theft, or mechanical damage.
At iCaro Logistics, we have the best equipment and vehicles that allow us to carry out such responsible transports. But there’s something else that’s equally important — our forwarding department consists solely of experienced specialists with extensive knowledge. It is these people, with their skills and passion for the profession, that are the greatest value of our transport company.
We stand out for our adherence to the highest industry standards, continuous improvement of the services we offer, and reliability in fulfilling our duties.
Transport of medical products – key requirements
It should be remembered that the proper temperature range for the delivery of pharmaceutical products and medicines is very narrow — usually 2–8 degrees Celsius — generally referred to as the “cold chain” (although sometimes these products may also require a slightly higher transport temperature).
Polish companies with a permit to manufacture or import medicinal products and a permit to carry out wholesale trade in these products are obliged to provide the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector with information on the means of transport used to carry out shipments covered by such permits.
The conditions for loading, transport, and unloading of medicinal products are regulated, among others, by the 2001 Pharmaceutical Law Act and the Regulation of the Minister of Health on Good Distribution Practice procedures. The guidelines defining Good Distribution Practice are subject to continuous updates.
The latest changes include, among others, a requirement that the delivery must be accompanied by a document confirming the following data: product name and form, expiry date, batch number, transported quantity, supplier and recipient address, storage and transport conditions of the medicinal products. The documentation process must be carried out in such a way that it is always possible to easily determine where the product is at any given time.
Medicine transport – choose a proven freight forwarder
At iCaro Logistics, we carry out:
- transport of medicines,
- transport of vitamins,
- transport of dietary supplements,

- transport of other medical products.
To carry out medicine transport, it is first necessary to comply with the regulations defined by the Pharmaceutical Law (Journal of Laws 2008, No. 45, item 271, as amended).
Particular emphasis is placed on safety, as such products cannot be treated like other bulk goods — they require exceptional protection.
The requirements of Good Distribution Practice are defined in the Regulation of the Minister of Health of 13 March 2015. The general conditions for the transport of medicinal products are set out, among others, in Chapter 9 – TRANSPORT, specifically in sections §9.1 and §9.2.
They state that:
- during the transport planning process, a risk assessment-based method must be used,
- it must be possible to demonstrate that the delivered products have not been exposed to conditions or circumstances that could negatively affect their integrity and quality,
- the company delivering the goods is responsible for protecting them from theft, counterfeiting, damage, and for ensuring the appropriate temperature level required for the given products.
Therefore, when looking for a carrier to handle medical products transport, it is worth paying attention to proper preparation, experience, the vehicles used, and compliance with all safety requirements.
