What is national transport?
National transport, also referred to as domestic freight transport, involves the organised movement of various types of products and cargo within our country, using vehicles or vehicle sets registered in Poland. This means that the point of departure, the route, and the final destination are all located within the territory of the Republic of Poland.
Efficient and reliable domestic transport is an essential part of the smooth operation of many Polish businesses. With this in mind, our services are dedicated to both large and small manufacturing and trading companies, as well as private clients.
Domestic transport services at iCaro Logistics
Our offer includes organising domestic transport up to 3.5 tonnes as well as shipments requiring larger vehicles. We handle all forms of cargo transport within Poland, including full truckload transport (FTL) and less-than-truckload transport (LTL).
What is full truckload (FTL) national transport?
Full truckload national transport is one of the most popular methods for moving cargo. It involves reserving the entire loading space of a vehicle for a specific shipment. This applies when the cargo reaches 24 tonnes — the legal weight limit in Poland — or when the client rents the whole vehicle exclusively, regardless of the cargo’s size or volume.
The main advantage of FTL transport is its simple logistics, with only one loading and one unloading location. There is no need for warehousing or reloading. This solution is ideal for urgent deliveries or shipments unsuitable for long transit times.
What is less-than-truckload (LTL) national transport?
Partial load transport, also known as groupage transport, uses only part of the vehicle’s cargo space, with the remaining space shared between different shippers. These shipments are usually small or medium-sized, with varied shapes, packed individually or in bulk packaging.
LTL transport is common in both Polish and international forwarding. It requires precise planning and efficient use of loading space. As multiple shippers and receivers are involved, delivery times can be longer, making it a cost-effective option for goods that do not require express delivery.
National transport of oversized cargo
We also provide domestic transport of oversized cargo, which requires a special approach, preparation, and planning. These are non-standard loads that exceed the legal length, width, height, or weight limits.
Oversized loads are those where the vehicle and cargo exceed 16 m in length, 2.5 m in width, 4 m in height, or a total weight of over 42 tonnes (including fuel and driver). Examples include agricultural and construction machinery, industrial equipment, road infrastructure elements, and wind turbine components. Specialised low-loader trailers such as semi, tiefbett, and platform types are used for this type of transport.
Pallet shipments — Poland
Another of our specialities is domestic pallet transport, a popular and versatile method for moving goods placed on pallets, usually standard “Euro pallets”.
A standard pallet measures 80 x 120 cm, is typically made of wood, and ensures secure cargo stacking. Pallets enable the transport of larger quantities at once or oversized goods. They are ideal for furniture, building materials, and household appliances.
